The Importance of Shelters and Rescues
Across Canada, animal surrenders, abandonment, and backyard breeding are at an all-time high. Shelters and rescues are on the front lines of this crisis, often operating over capacity while still working tirelessly to save as many animals as possible.
As non-profits, they carry the weight of this responsibility with limited resources, relying heavily on adoption fees, donations, and fundraising to keep going. Every dollar helps cover veterinary care, food, toys, and other essentials. It also supports transportation costs, shelter maintenance, and boarding fees when there aren’t enough foster homes available.
